INTERPROFESSIONAL HOSPITAL-BASED SPINE CARE

This course is designed to introduce the chiropractor to the protocols and hierarchy in a hospital system. It details how to introduce chiropractic services and care paths to both emergency rooms and the general hospital population inclusive of CEO's, emergency department chairmen and representatives of other departments that have influence over utilization providers.

1. Introduction –

  1. Outlining the purpose of this certification, why does it matter? 
  2. What does the Chiropractic profession have to offer and what are our educational gaps in being involved in hospital based care?
  3. What are the opportunities available to the Chiropractic profession?
  4. What is my background and why should you listen to me?

2. Healthcare Trends

  1. Big picture on flow of spine patients, current spine care paths and outcomes

Course Objective:

To better understand trends in hospital and emergent care scenarios in the healthcare delivery system inclusive of policies, hospital staffing and current care paths for mechanical spine issues. It outlines what the doctor of chiropractic is required to do in order to gain access and offer chiropractic in the hospital delivery system.
