This course is engineered to focus the doctor of chiropractic as expert in both chronic and acute spine care to be able to responsibly triage the patient with either direct care or concurrently with peers in the medical primary and specialty communities. This program covers the graduate tools needed to become expert in spine from causality and chronic care to trauma based pathology. It covers spinal biomechanical engineering, MRI spine interpretation and the central nervous system connection to the chiropractic spinal adjustment. The program also covers how to create ethical relationships with medical primary care providers, medical specialists and lawyers as being the first option for referral based upon the doctor of chiropractic's clinical excellence. 

Module 1: Introduction and Tools  1 CE hours

Module 2: Trends in Chiropractic Practice and Hospitals 2.75 CE hours

Module 3: Spinal Biomechanical Engineering and MRI Spine Interpretation 2 CE hours

Module 5: Contemporary Literature of Chiropractic Research and the Central Nervous System Connection 1.5 CE Hours

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Module 1: Introduction and Tools - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand what is required to be considered a spinal expert at the peer level in the both medical specialist and legal communities and realize the academic tools and credentials required to be accepted at that level. In addition, to learn what is required to focus future studies on in acquiring the requisite knowledge base to be the expert. 

Module 2: Cooperative Care with Medical Primary Care, Medical Specialists and Emergency Departments - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand what is required to work cooperatively with hospitals, medical specialists and medical primary care providers. This includes triage and identifying the various components of mechanical spine pathology. 

Module 3: Spinal Biomechanical Engineering and MRI Spine Interpretation - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand the basics of spinal biomechanical engineering from an etiology perspective and the transference of forces that result in bodily injury to help created a diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan. The MRI component is designed to help the graduate student understand the basics of MRI spine interpretation inclusive of the latest literature standards in nomenclature. 

Module 4: Hospital Administration, Triage, Clinical Requirements - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand administering and managing patients in a hospital environment inclusive of documenting care plans in conjunction with hospital attending’s and ancillary hospital staff.

Module 5 : Documentation and Independent Insurance Examinations and Peer Review Standards - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand how to initially create legally defensible documentation that meets current academic and licensure standards. In addition the graduate student will learn how to justify their diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plans when challenged based upon clinical findings. 

Module 6: Contemporary Spine Research and Triage Protocols - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand contemporary indexed peer reviewed literature on mechanical spine pain, central nervous and neuro-endocrine systems. In addition, the latest standards in care path literature will be reviewed.

Module 7: Spinal Adjustment - Central Nervous System - Neuro-Endocrine Pathways - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand in depth the mechanical-neuro mechanisms of the spinal adjustment and the brain connection. 

Module 8: Combining Research and Peer Medical Relationships with Chiropractic Care - The objective of this course is to help the graduate student understand how to interface with medical specialists in an evidenced based paradigm to certify the chiropractor as the primary spine care provider.
