What This Program Helps You Do (Conversion Section)

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Interpret MRI spine studies using modern sequences and terminology (T1/T2/STIR/PD, sagittal + axial)

  • Identify and demonstrate disc, ligamentous, and neurologic pathology with clarity

  • Build demonstrative documentation that makes pathology visually understandable

  • Create compliant, legally defensible records that reduce exposure and enhance credibility

  • Use evidence-based biomechanics to document a patho-neuro-biomechanical lesion with accuracy

  • Improve referral confidence with MD PCPs, specialists, urgent care, and ER teams

  • Strengthen medical-legal reporting for causality, bodily injury, and financial loss integration

Why This Matters Now

Healthcare is rapidly shifting toward:

  • Evidence-based documentation

  • Demonstrable imaging-based diagnosis

  • Collaborative, patient-centered spine care

  • Higher standards for compliance and defensibility

This course shows exactly how clinical chiropractic fits into these national trends — and how to position yourself as the first-choice conservative spine provider.

Who This Course Is For

This program is designed for doctors of chiropractic who want to:

  • Expand clinical confidence interpreting MRI spine pathology

  • Improve outcomes through biomechanics + imaging correlation

  • Build reputation-based referral relationships

  • Avoid documentation errors that create legal vulnerability

  • Develop high-level capability in medical-legal / PI environments

Course Modules

Module 1 (2 Hours) — MRI Spine Case Review

A clinical review of MRI cases including sagittal and axial imaging, with instruction on identifying:

  • Vertebrae, spinal cord, discs, nerve roots, thecal sac

  • Posterior longitudinal ligament, epidural veins, fat saturation pulses
Pathology covered: bulges, herniations, protrusions, extrusions, myelomalacia, cord edema, Schmorl’s nodes, and more.

Module 2 (2 Hours) — Demonstrative Documentation Reporting

Learn how to create documentation that is demonstrable by design — making pathology visually clear and professionally defensible.
You’ll learn how to prepare records that are:

  • Accurate

  • Legally defensible

  • Easily understood by third parties (attorneys, adjusters, providers)

Module 3 (2 Hours) — Age-Dating Herniated Disc & Trauma

Age-dating disc pathology and trauma is a critical skill for spine experts. This module teaches how to combine:

  • X-ray + MRI interpretation

  • Imaging-based joint pathology analysis

  • Evidence-based prognosis reasoning
Essential for collaboration with physicians and for medical-legal case work.

Module 4 (2 Hours) — Stroke Evaluation & Risk Factors in Chiropractic Practice

Diagnose, triage, and document headaches, migraines, and vascular events in primary care.
Includes:

  • Imaging protocols based on history and presentation

  • Imaging findings that help determine etiology

  • Extensive Q&A session after instruction

Module 5 (1 Hour) — Trends in Documentation (Evidence-Based, Demonstrative Care)

Demonstrative documentation is often the key driver behind:

  • Better collaboration

  • Stronger referrals

  • Increased chiropractic utilization
This module covers how evidence + technology removes outdated “non-specific back pain” assumptions and positions chiropractic as a clear first-line solution.

Module 6 (1 Hour) — Documentation Made Easy (Medical-Legal + 4-Corner Reports)

Step-by-step instruction for creating:

  • Demonstrative medical-legal documentation

  • Court-ready reporting that meets regulatory and administrative standards

  • “4-corner” narrative reports that strengthen your professional reputation
Includes how to educate attorneys on bodily injury through demonstrative evidence.

Module 7 (1.5 Hours) — MRI Nomenclature & Evidence of the Chiropractic Lesion

A modern MRI terminology update (with significant changes) plus biomechanics-based diagnosis.
Includes a master-class in:

  • Strain-sprain mechanisms

  • Ligament/connective tissue permanency

  • Evidence-based certification of long-term care needs
Focus: making patho-neuro-biomechanical lesions clinically demonstrable and reimbursable.

Module 8 (2 Hours) — Imaging Joint Ligamentous Instabilities

Identify multiple arthritis types across plain film and MRI, including:

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Psoriatic arthritis

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Gout

  • Infections

  • Spondyloarthropathies
Instructor: Dr. Baker, MD (Stony Brook School of Medicine)

Module 9 (1.5 Hours) — Master-Class in Ligament Physiology & Pathology

Anatomy, physiology, vascularization, neurological innervation, and tissue repair — and how it applies clinically.
Includes ligament pathology correlation to mechanisms of:

  • Patho-neuro-biomechanical lesions

  • Vertebral subluxation complex
Also covers ligament roles in spinal adjustment mechanisms.

Module 10 (1 Hour) — Disproving “Non-Specific Back Pain”

Evidence-based case management using:

  • Biomechanics

  • MRI findings

  • Clinical correlation
Includes how to build consistent referral pipelines and forensic consulting relationships — while disproving “non-specific back pain” dogma using the literature.

Module 11 (1 Hour) — Spinal Disc Pathology in Clinical Practice (Roundtable)

A clinical roundtable on diagnosing spinal pathology in chiropractic practice.
Featuring: Dr. Peyster, MD (Harvard-trained neuroradiologist)
Includes case examples and best practices for collaborating with radiologists for case review.

Module 12 (1.5 Hours) — Neurosurgical Roundtable Discussion

A collaborative spine care discussion led by:
Magdy Shady, MD, neurosurgeon with 30 years of experience working with and supporting chiropractic care.

Module 13 (1.5 Hours) — DC vs. MD vs. PT: The Evidence

Deep dive into research comparing chiropractic care vs. PT vs. medication for mechanical spine conditions.
Includes:

  • Evidence supporting chiropractic as the best first choice

  • Physiologic basis for why adjustments work

  • Updated definitions and evidence for patho-neuro-biomechanical lesions
Objective: support stronger MD referral patterns toward DCs based on the science.
