PART 1 — Research Intensive (22 Hours)

Deep Evidence-Based Training in Advanced MRI Topics

You’ll study 15 contemporary research articles and complete 15 examinations covering:

  • Modic Changes

  • Disc and Referred Pain

  • MRI and Cervical Musculature

  • Kinetic MRI Imaging

  • Neurological Innervation

  • MRI and Injury Mechanisms

  • Discogenic Pain

  • Annular Tears and Fissures

  • Asymptomatic Herniations

  • MRI physics and utilization

  • Intradural pathology

  • Extradural pathology

  • Morphology, sequencing, anomalies, and anatomy

Purpose: Build advanced clinical reasoning grounded in modern research and MRI interpretation science.


PART 2 — Live 1:1 Mentorship with Neuroradiology Review (8 Hours)

Learn to Identify Critical Findings Across Full MRI Sequences

You will sit directly with Robert Peyster, MD (CAQ, Neuroradiology) to review:

  • 60 MRI sequences

  • 2,500+ images

You will identify and differentiate:

  • Disc bulges

  • Annular fissures (circumferential, radial, transverse)

  • Varices

  • Herniations, including:

    • Protrusions

    • Extrusions

    • Sequestered extrusions

    • Migrated / comminuted extrusions

You will also train in:

  • Appropriate MRI sequencing for accurate interpretation

  • Contemporary nomenclature and reporting standards

Purpose: Move beyond theory into true neuroradiology-level pattern recognition and reporting precision.


PART 3 — Publish a Peer-Reviewed Case Report (10 Hours)

You will author and publish an original case report showing how MRI impacted:

  • Diagnosis

  • Prognosis

  • Treatment planning

Your paper will include:

  • Images

  • References

  • Peer review by a panel of peers for acceptance

The Academy of Chiropractic will handle the publication process; the candidate authors the content.

Case Report Guidelines

Case reports must include:

  • Abstract

  • Introduction

  • Case presentation

  • Discussion

  • Conclusions

  • References (maximum 20)

Peer Reviewed:

  • BMJ (British Medical Journal) Group and Cleveland University Kansas City, Chiropractic and Health Sciences

Purpose: Establish clinical credibility, contribute to the profession, and document advanced diagnostic competency.
