Mini-Fellowship in MSK MRI Extremity

Advanced Extremity MRI Interpretation Training for Doctors Who Want Fellowship-Level Clinical Confidence

If you’ve completed the MRI Extremity Program and want to move beyond “competent” into advanced, fellowship-style clinical interpretation, the Mini-Fellowship in MSK MRI Extremity is your next step.

This hybrid program combines:

  • Rigorous evidence-based study of contemporary MSK MRI research

  • High-intensity, 1-on-1 live case review with a university-based MSK radiology educator

  • Publication of a peer-reviewed case report to demonstrate clinical mastery and contribute to the profession

You’ll gain the expertise to identify complex pathology across the entire extremity system—every major joint, normal variants, fractures, arthritis patterns, metastatic disease, and more—using a structured, repeatable diagnostic process.

Who This Mini-Fellowship Is For

This advanced training is designed for doctors who:

✅ Have completed the MRI Extremity Program
✅ Want higher-level diagnostic confidence and accuracy
✅ Want to strengthen clinical decision-making through research-based interpretation
✅ Want guided mentorship through real MRI sequences, real pathology, and real evidence
✅ Want to build authority through peer-reviewed publication
✅ Want to differentiate themselves as an advanced MSK MRI interpreter

What You’ll Be Able to Do After Completing This Program

By the end of the Mini-Fellowship, candidates will be able to:

  • Interpret extremity MRI studies with greater confidence and accuracy

  • Distinguish normal variants vs. pathology across all extremity joints

  • Identify and classify:

    • fractures

    • metastatic disease

    • inflammatory vs. degenerative arthritis

    • tendon, ligament, cartilage, labral, and meniscal pathology

  • Improve diagnostic reasoning through contemporary research mastery

  • Publish a peer-reviewed extremity MRI case report demonstrating advanced competency

Clinical outcome: better diagnostic clarity → stronger prognosis → improved treatment planning → better patient outcomes.

Program Format: 3-Part Hybrid Fellowship Model (40 Hours Total)

PART 1 — Research Topics (22 Hours)

Evidence-Based Mastery Across Every Extremity Joint

Candidates study 15 contemporary MSK radiology research articles covering MRI applications and diagnostics for:

  • Every joint in the body (excluding brain and spine)

  • MRI technology advancements

  • Diagnostic patterns and clinical correlations

  • Co-morbidities and differential considerations

✅ Candidates complete 15 topic-specific examinations to validate mastery.

Result: you don’t just “recognize” pathology—you can explain it, defend it, and apply it clinically using published evidence.

PART 2 — Live Study with Kevin Baker, MD (8 Hours)

Fellowship-Style 1-on-1 MRI Sequence Review (In Person or Virtual)

Candidates sit (live or virtual) with Kevin Baker, MD and review:

  • 60 MRI sequences

  • 2,500+ images

  • Pathology across every extremity joint, including the critical distinctions between:

    • Normal vs. fracture

    • Normal vs. metastasis

    • Inflammatory vs. degenerative arthritis

    • Multi-structure injury patterns (sports and overuse)

This isn’t passive learning—this is high-yield, expert-guided interpretation with feedback and clinical reasoning refinement.

Result: interpretation clarity, pattern recognition, confidence under pressure, and repeatable diagnostic methodology.

Topics Covered in the Live Fellowship Review

Candidates receive advanced instruction in:

  1. Arthritis (inflammatory and degenerative)

  2. Advanced cartilage assessment

  3. Rotator cuff tears

  4. Labral tears (shoulder and hip)

  5. Tendon injuries and degeneration

  6. Meniscal tears

  7. Ligamentous injuries

  8. Common fractures

  9. Sports-related injury patterns

  10. Plantar fasciitis

PART 3 — Publish a Case Report (10 Hours)

Build Clinical Authority + Contribute to the Profession

Candidates must publish an original case report demonstrating how extremity MRI impacted:

  • diagnosis

  • prognosis

  • and/or treatment planning

The case report must include:

  • original images

  • proper references

  • structured clinical writing

  • peer review by a panel for acceptance

Peer Reviewed

  • BMJ (British Medical Journal) Group and Cleveland University Kansas City, Chiropractic and Health Sciences

The Academy of Chiropractic will facilitate publication. Candidates author the report following these requirements:

Structure: abstract, introduction, case presentation, discussion, conclusions, references
Limit: up to 20 references
Purpose: contribute to the body of clinical knowledge and highlight meaningful clinical phenomena in real cases

Result: a published, peer-reviewed demonstration of competency—an authority asset for your career and your practice.

Program Fee

Tuition: $3,000

Course Objectives

Primary Objective:
To be able to accurately interpret extremity MSK MRI images across every joint in the body and apply findings meaningfully in clinical decision-making.
